Nevada Family Psychiatry is a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry practice in downtown Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada. Founded by Jay Somers, PA-C, DHSc, in 2004, the practice cares for patients five years old and older and welcomes all LGBTQ+, spiritual, religious, and non-religious communities.
PA. Somers is an experienced and nationally certified physician assistant with a Nevada state license since 2000. He has over 25 years of experience working in psychiatry with adult and adolescent populations.
PA. Somers is a distinguished American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) fellow and holds a master’s degree from Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School and a Doctorate of Health Science from AT Still University.
He moved to Las Vegas from the Chicago area. He completed his research doctorate in health sciences, focusing on the effects of food on mental health and job burnout, specifically in health professionals. Mr. Somers has been a guest speaker and lecturer nationwide on various mental health topics and has published several studies in medical journals on various mental health topics.
He has previously served as president of the National Association of PAs in Psychiatry and the Nevada Academy of Physician Assistants. He is currently the American Academy of PAs liaison to the American Psychiatric Association.
Jay Somers provides a comprehensive and integrative approach to treating patients with mental health conditions. He cares for adults and children struggling with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, anxiety, panic disorder, bipolar disorder, insomnia, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and various other behavioral concerns.
PA Somers understands that mental health affects the entire body. Depending on the circumstances, he uses genetic, metabolic, and allergy testing to find the most appropriate treatments for his patients. In addition to traditional medication management, He offers dietary and lifestyle-change counseling as part of a comprehensive solution to address diverse patient needs.
